Lamentations of my state

give me a reason why i have to work so hard
when the state of the country makes it seem impossible to succeed by your own hand
you have to know someone who knows someone who has an upper hand
and fair or not we all just have to accept the way things stand

prices are shooting off the roof
salaries are going down the drain
our tears are washed away along with our clothes
in the flood caused by these heavy rains
our lives seem like a punishment for a
time we probably derailed
but why are we punished by the ones
with the most stains

i could sit here all day and
write lamentations of my state
not like my voice is going to
heal us from these pains
but they’ll just go up an join the
long queue of complains
which, personally, i think
puts a smile on their face

i could keep crying and wailing
creating nice tunes for their playlist
i could either give up or keep praying
that my future should be worth saving
